Welcome: Repost copied from GridsWatch.comThis is a repost of an entry that resided on GridsWatch. It was unpublished for some reason: I'm Arnie Miles, Senior Systems Architect for Advanced Research Computing (ARC) at Georgetown University. ARC members put together GridsWatch , as well as provide training in HPC and Grid computing , support researchers on and off campus, and participate in national grid projects like SURAGrid , Open Science Grid , and caBIG . We're also working on an R&D project to build new grid middleware software; more on that in later entries. In this BLOG, I hope to discuss the converging technologies now known as high performance computing , high throughput computing , and grid computing . Perhaps there's a new word out there for it? I'll be talking about our training initiatives, our continuing work in national grid projects, and some of my thoughts on where the technology is going. I'll also keep readers abreast of developments in some exciting research and development. Please stay tuned.
